 | The castle has an unparelleled position at the geographic centre of the British Isles on the edge of the Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and bounded by three of Englands largest national parks.
Ten minutes to the south are the Yorkshire Dales and half an hour to the west is the Lake District. North of Augill is Hadrian's Wall which cuts across the Northumberland National Park.
The Pennine Way and Coast to Coast footpaths passs close by and some of the best, most unspoiled walking in Britain can be found in the Pennines at whose feet Augill sits.
The historic cities of Carlisle, Lancaster, Durham, York & Chester are an easy day trip as are many of Britain's finest country houses. Manchester, Leeds & Newcastle (all within a two hours drive) offer shopping, theatres, galleries & museums. |
The castle has eight bedrooms in the main house, two of which are ground floor garden rooms and further two bedroom, self contained accommodation in our converted stables .
All rooms have a very distinct character. Superbly finished with big antique beds and soft sofas, guests can expect to find such unusual additions to their rooms as an old gramophone, a piano or even an Indonesian blow pipe. You may find your room has its own turrets.
Bathrooms are luxurious, nearly all with double ended or Victorian claw-footed baths and big showers.
As with all good country houses, the table is at the heart of the castle. House parties and weddings for up to forty can dine banquet style along two eighteen foot oak tables and smaller groups eat together around one huge dining table.
On no less lavish a scale, roaming feasts can be laid on for up to sixty. |  |

The cottage is part of the converted stables. Big windows, great views, lots of space with a large living area and kitchen upstairs. Log burning stoves.

Private garden. Bunk beds are full sized so can be used by adults with a sense of humour! Family bathroom. Sleeps 4. Cot available.
