Primrose Cottage

In the street of Milton Abbas, Primrose Cottage is one of the semi-detached cob and thatched houses that make up a unique village created around 1770 by Lord Milton and landscape artist Capability Brown.
The story alone of how, over a generation, he erased the town of Middleton to allow himself to enjoy exclusively his stately home and the peace and quiet of the Abbey makes the village worth a visit.
The 'model village' itself is said by many to be one of the prettiest in England. Certainly each house has individual charm whilst the winding valley setting with its lake at the bottom is the ideal base for the dorset experience - countryside, Thomas Hardy, walking, beaches... Relax.... slow down.... you are now in Dorset.
The Village is tucked away so it is easiest to approach via the A354.
When coming from Blandford Forum turn off to the right at the Milton Arms in Winterbourne Whitechurch and follow the road for about 2 miles before turning left at the first junction.
The house is on the right just passed the Hambro Arms.
If you are coming from Dorchester turn left in Milborne St. Andrew follow the road around the lake, up the hill and passed the Church.
The house is on the left opposite the Post Office/Village Store.
