Hertfordshire is the starting point of the New River: a man made waterway, opened in 1613 to supply London with fresh drinking water.

Hertfordshire has some excellent attractions for tourists and residents to visit. It is also an excellent location to explore other parts of England, being just 30 minutes train journey from central London and about a 1 hour drive from Cambridge and Oxford. Hertfordshire is also very nearby to London Heathrow, London Luton and London Stansted airports.

The Hertfordshire county flower is the Pasqueflower
