 | Kenilworth is a Grand 4 star (Visit Britain) Victorian House and was built in 1896 from traditional Lakeland slate. Many of the original features have been retained, such as the tiled floor and stained glass of the entrance porch, which leads into the spacious hallway with it's original open wooden staircase.
This gives the house a warm, welcoming feel, and under our ownership all of the rooms have been completely refurbished and redecorated. All rooms have controllable central heating and all are fully double-glazed. The mountain tops are regularly covered in snow in the winter-it is rare, though not unheard of, for there to be snow here in Windemere!
For everyone's safety and comfort, we are completely non-smoking. We have six guest bedrooms in total, and offer family, king-size double, double, twin and single rooms. All of the bedrooms are en-suite. Do please click through to our own web-site to see photos of all of the bedrooms. |
Kenilworth Guest House has six guest bedrooms in total, and we can accommodate a maximum of twelve people.
All of our guest bedrooms have en-suite facilities, with shower, washbasin, toilet and illuminated electric shaver point.
All bedrooms are provided with a flat screen digital colour tv, fluffy towels, hairdryer, alarm clock, wineglasses and tea and coffee-making facilities (delicious hot chocolate for the winter!), with fresh milk available on request. In addition the single room has its own DVD player. For your comfort, all radiators have thermostatically-controlled valves, and all windows are new and double-glazed. To ensure your comfort in the winter, all beds have thermal underblankets and 15 Tog duvets. All bedding is hypoallergenic.
Bedrooms 1 ,2, 3 & 4 are on the first floor (ie up one flight of stairs)
Bedrooms 5 & 6 are on the second floor (ie up two flights of stairs)

 | There is a spacious and comfortable ground floor lounge for guests to use, with a plentiful supply of literature describing local attractions, and walking and touring maps of the area which may be borrowed. There is also a colour tv and DVD player.
Our hearty breakfasts are cooked to order and are served in the ground floor dining room. Full English breakfast is included of course, although a lighter version or vegetarian alternative is also available. We serve local produce (the sausage is made by the local butcher) and the free-range eggs are delivered from the local farm. Quorn sausages are offered for our vegetarian guests, and these are cooked separately from the meat products. There is a selection of cereals to choose from with grapefruit and fruit juice, fresh toast and a plentiful supply of tea, coffee or herbal infusions.
